Copyright & License

Policies, Administration and Markets Journal (PAMJ) is fully committed to upholding intellectual property rights, academic openness, and ethical publishing standards. This document outlines the journal’s policies regarding copyright ownership, licensing conditions, author responsibilities, reuse rights, and archiving practices.

Our approach aligns with international best practices as recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

1. COPYRIGHT OWNERSHIP

All articles published in PAMJ remain the intellectual property of the author(s).

  • Upon acceptance, authors retain full copyright of their work.
  • PAMJ does not require authors to transfer copyright to the journal or publisher.
  • Instead, authors grant PAMJ a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article under the agreed open access terms.

This model empowers authors while ensuring public dissemination and archiving of scholarly research.

2. OPEN ACCESS LICENSE: CC BY 4.0

All articles in PAMJ are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license:

  • Anyone may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, or build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
  • Proper attribution must be given to the original author(s) and the source (PAMJ).
  • A link to the license must be included.
  • Any changes made must be clearly indicated.

What is allowed:

  • Reuse of content in academic publications
  • Use in teaching, course packs, or presentations
  • Reposting in repositories, blogs, and news sites
  • Translation or adaptation of content with citation

What is not allowed:

  • Using the content without crediting the original author(s)
  • Presenting modified work as the original
  • Implying endorsement by the author or PAMJ without permission

Full license details are available here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0

3. AUTHOR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

By submitting an article to PAMJ, authors confirm that:

  • They are the original creators of the work
  • The manuscript is not under review or published elsewhere
  • They have obtained permission for all third-party content used in the article (e.g., images, tables, datasets)
  • All co-authors have agreed to the submission and approved the final version
  • The article complies with the journal’s ethical guidelines (e.g., on plagiarism, data fabrication, human subjects research)

After publication, authors may:

  • Share the final published version (PDF) freely via institutional repositories, personal websites, or social media
  • Use the article for educational or professional purposes (e.g., thesis, reports, teaching)
  • Reuse parts of the article in future publications (with proper citation)

4. THIRD-PARTY CONTENT AND PERMISSIONS

If your manuscript includes third-party material (figures, tables, datasets, maps, images, quotes, etc.), it is your responsibility to:

  • Identify the source clearly
  • Confirm that the material is either:
    • Licensed under a compatible Creative Commons license
    • In the public domain
    • Used with express written permission from the copyright holder
  • Submit any permission documentation with your manuscript

Failure to obtain proper permissions may result in rejection or delayed publication.

5. PUBLISHER’S RIGHTS

While authors retain copyright, PAMJ holds the following non-exclusive rights:

  • To publish and disseminate the article in print and online formats
  • To index, archive, and distribute the article through third-party repositories (e.g., Google Scholar, ROAD, CrossRef, OpenAIRE)
  • To use article metadata (title, abstract, author info) for indexing and promotion
  • To reproduce the article in compilations or special editions, always with author attribution

6. SELF-ARCHIVING AND INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORIES

PAMJ supports green open access practices. Authors are encouraged to:

  • Deposit the final published version (Version of Record) in institutional or subject repositories
  • Include it in their personal or departmental websites
  • Share it on academic networks such as ResearchGate or Academia.edu
  • Archive preprints (submitted versions) with a note indicating the article has been accepted/published in PAMJ.

There is no embargo period for any type of self-archiving.

7. CITATIONS AND PROPER ATTRIBUTION

Any reuse of PAMJ content must include:

  • Full citation of the original article, including author name(s), article title, journal name, volume/issue, and DOI
  • A statement such as:
“This article was originally published in Policies, Administration and Markets Journal (PAMJ) under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License.”

Improper citation or failure to acknowledge the original source may constitute plagiarism.

8. INFRINGEMENT, MISUSE, AND LEGAL DISCLAIMER

PAMJ takes copyright infringement seriously.

  • Any suspected misuse of articles published in the journal should be reported immediately to the editorial office.
  • PAMJ is not responsible for any legal claims arising from the unauthorized use of third-party content included by authors.
  • Authors bear full legal responsibility for the originality and rights associated with their work.

9. COPYRIGHT CHANGES AND REUSE BY AUTHORS

Authors wishing to reuse their article (in full or in part) in:

  • A book chapter,
  • A course packet,
  • A research report, or
  • A revised journal article

… must ensure that the reused content:

  • Includes a clear reference to the original version in PAMJ
  • Respects the non-exclusivity and open-access license
  • Is not republished in a journal or venue with conflicting copyright terms

By submitting a manuscript to PAMJ, authors acknowledge and accept all terms described in this Copyright & License Policy. Our open access model ensures that research remains freely available, widely cited, and permanently accessible—empowering academic knowledge to serve both science and society.
